FYP PANEL POSTERS
Hi guys, we have received notifications about the three panels posters on the 10th January, that are going to be done by the 17th January. Thus, the team have met up for their splitting of work. Mandy was doing the first panel poster, Sharon was doing the second panel poster whereas Geraldine was doing the third panel poster and lastly, Li Jun started on the initial part of the FYP team report.
After the splitting of the tasks, we are asked to go back and draft out a poster and if possible, we will ask the other teammates for their feedback. The style that we are looking for in all the three posters are that we are going to include "polka dots". This is to identify all the three posters of similar styles that belonged to us.
Our next meeting will be on the 16th January, to consolidate all the three posters and to amend whatever that is needed to submit on the 17th. We also arranged a meeting with our adviser, Joseph Tan, to vet through our posters on the 16th.

EXECUTION FOR FYP TRAILER
The three girls meet up earlier for the execution of the trailer as Sharon were still having her internship. They meet up at about 11am in the morning and start borrowing of equipments to film the trailer; Panasonic AVCHD camcorder and tripod. At about 2pm, we start off with taking time lapse of the team discussion for about 20 minutes. Our idea is to take at least 20 minutes of the time lapse and continue to fast forward the clip.
After taking the time lapse, we continued on to taking a portrait shot of the individuals in the team. Aftermath, we piece the clips together and used a bubble to illustrate the conversation that we are having, continued by the time lapse of team discussion.
We've completed editing about 5pm.

TRAILER FOR FYP
Hi guys, we are back again! We are informed that we got to complete our 30 seconds trailer by 6 January to determine if we are suitable for the FYP showcase. Thus, we have to gather all the information and discuss. The girls meet up on Wednesday, 4 January, to discuss on the ideas of making this trailer. We meet up on 12 noon and start discussing after lunch. After much discussions, we have finally decided on one idea where we will start with the "The journey of the four girls..." then we will have the four girls appearing on the screen. There will be a conversation between us which appears to be like
- Geraldine: "Hey! What are we going to do for FYP?"
- Sharon: "Faci say Problem-based learning system leh."
- Li Jun: "HUH!?!! PBL?!? SO BORING!"
- Mandy: "SIAN"
Then the text "The journey begins..." start appearing. Next there will be a time lapse of the four girls discussing about FYP in the school library. Then zoom in to PBL on the paper that we have been discussing it earlier on. Next will be the text "The Result...?"
The idea is to show that the four girls are busy brainstorming about the very first video that we are going to show on PBL. Thus, we will then start on the execution on the next day!
Stay tuned!

MEMBERS' COMMENTS
It's time for the members' comments during the period of FYP.
SHARON:
Overall, I felt that it was totally a different experience for all of us in the team. As not all of us were very knowledgable in the area of production, we ran into some problems here and there. This might causes some of the delays in the process. But, we still managed to overcome it without any major problems.
Basically, of all the videos, I prefer the spoof! We had a lot of fun filming the whole process and the editing part was awesome. We could add in fun effects/ NGs to make the whole video entertaining.
That was the whole purpose of making a spoof! The CED staff and Glen were very co-operative, the process of teaching them the dance steps and having them listening to our cues. I believed my team members would have agreed with me on this! Not to forget to mention about the teaser and full video, we put in out utmost efforts and tried to edit it using limited effects. We're glad that we are still able to finish all the three videos, despite some errors occurring!
PANG LI JUN:
For these 3 videos, I must say that all of us have put in a lot of effort for it. All of us stayed back turned by turned due to our different classes for the edits. We even came back to school during the holidays for our FYP. I believe that these 3 videos have served its purposes for the teaser, the full video as well as the spoof. Although the video may have some mistakes in it, we have really tired our best for each of them.
As for my teammates, I feel very happy to work with them. Although there are times when our opinions collide, we still managed to settle and talked it out peacefully. And I think that everyone of us have did our part every well that made us be on pace with the deadlines given to us.
GERALDINE GOH:
I feel that these 3 videos have helped me to explore more about Premier Pro. And that these 3 videos are able to show the potential in us.
It's interesting working as a team with people of different personality. Through this project, we definitely get to know watch other more. And also see the different talent that one posses. Overall, it's a great experience and it's an enjoyable process!
MANDY TAN:
Despite all the challengers we face during the 6 months, i enjoyed the process and the knowledge that i learn from my teammates and our clients. For every video we do, i learn different things. i personally like the teaser effect and the process as it is the first video we are working on and it allow us to experience how to do a video properly. this allow us to make it more easier when it comes to doing the 2nd and 3rd video as we know what is the clients' expectations. I enjoy working with the CED staff as they teach and guide us when we have difficulties. in my opinion, the 3rd video is the hardest to do as we need to plan from the scripts to the shooting area to editing. we need to edit quite a lot of time to achieve our ideal result. without the help from CED staff, i believe it will make it harder for us. Overall, i have learn and experience filming and editing technique and i believe with more time given, we will do a better videos for our school.

IMPROVING THE FULL VIDEO BASED ON ERIKA'S COMMENTS
Received an e-mail by Erika saying about the few minor changes to make to the full video. Thus, I continued my editing at home. Having internship as well, which starts on the 19th Sept, I got to use a few weeks to edit the video. Though it's minor changes but the rendering time and as well as making the films tidy needs time too. Even though it's minor, I still faced some problems as I'm not knowledgable in Adobe Premier Pro. I learn the skills through my team mates but during the time before they started internship, they have helped me a lot which enables me to be able to edit it. I'm grateful for the type of team mates I'm working with.
Thus, the below is the comments given from Erika.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=quHhsoKTyTg
Thus, the below is the comments given from Erika.
1:48 – Can we just have the VO for “We are pleased to have…” over images/stills without the video of Glen entering the frame from left (in the samelibrary scene) too many times?
2:03 – Can we just have the VO for “we also have a host of other invited speakers…” over the images of the keynote speakers w/o the video of Glen standing in the library? Transition seems odd.
2:09 – 2:12 Can we delete this segment of Glen walking out of frame? It’s an odd transition from the stills before this.
2:24 – 2:26 The audio track and video do not sync – is this the best clip we have?
2:58 – The appearance of the reflection pond still is too abrupt – smoother transition here?
3:00 – The RP logo & Symposiym logo appear first before the white background and the rest of the text appear – can we have a smoother fade to white transition here?
But I faced some problems here as well....
The part where Erika asked for changes:
2:03 – Can we just have the VO for "we also have a host of other invited speakers…" over the images of the keynote speakers w/o the video of Glen standing in the library? Transition seems odd.
I did not make the following changes as I thought if we were to use the VO over the keynote speakers, it would seems too long.
So, here is the finalized full video!

FURTHER EDITING OF FULL VIDEO
The rest of the team members have started their internship except me. It's at the last stage of finishing editing of full video. JUST THE LAST STAGE AND GIRLS, WE'RE DONE! :D
Thus, on this day, I went back to school, vista lab to seek advices and feedbacks from David Cheng. He's so willing to help and he said there's only minor changes to amend, judging from the video. Thus, he said he will go back and look for some resources for me to refer on.
After munching on my snacks, I went back to vista lab and continue editing for a while. After editing, I rendered and upload the video to Youtube and send it over to David Cheng for more improvements. On the 13th sept, I went back school once again to borrow Macbook pro. That was the day when I had to use the school's Macbook pro to continue editing my video till satisfactory.
Finished editing of full video on the 15th Sept 2011. Immediately rendered the video and uploaded to Youtube and sent it over to the clients: Mar Samson. Waited for their reply since then.

GLENN'S VOICEOVER
After putting the videos together, we tried to edit the audio as initially, the boom mic was not alright and we would need time if we need to return and borrow equipments again. Thus, we decided to record Glenn's voiceover and this would act as a backup if we cannot further edit the audio anymore.
Even though we set aside a certain period of time for Glenn's voiceover but we still exceed a bit of time as we need to have NGs taken. But overall, the team have managed to spilt the job well as to who should give Glenn the cue to start and to serve the speed of his speech.
Hopefully, this will be out last shooting with Glenn as we do not want Glenn to be tired out by us and we also need ample time to edit the full video.

FULL VIDEO EDITING
After we've all finalized on the Spoof video, the next thing we have to do is the editing of full video. The team have used three days to edit the full video and if necessary, we have to make some changes according to our advisor: David Cheng's and Clients' feedbacks.
These four days of editing (26th July - 29th July) have allowed us to fully utilize our members' skills and also from the previous two editing, we have learnt from there. Thus, it enables us to speed up the process. But nevertheless, we still need approval from both sides to wrap up the full video.
After four days of editing, we felt that the audio isn't strong enough. Therefore, we need to arrange another day of recording Glenn's voiceover so that we are able to mix the voiceover together with the visuals. Thus, we have decided to arrange the recording on the 25th August when both the client and Glenn are available.
Stay tuned for the next recording!

SUBMITTING IN OF SPOOF VIDEO
Due to ours and the clients' pack schedule, we are unable to pick a day out and meet for the final meeting of Spoof video. Hence, when we're done, we contacted them via e-mil and also meeting them in person to pass them the DVD. Aftermath, we will get feedbacks from them after they've finished viewing the video. In addition, we gave them a link where they can see. The link as below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwP7RGcP85M
While waiting for approval, the script and the venue of filming is finally approved. The next step we will do is to settle the borrowing of equipments and waiting for the day of filming! We've actually separated the team into two groups: Mandy and Li Jun. The two girls are involved in filming as the other two girls: Geraldine Goh and Sharon Ho are having lessons thus they are both in charge of editing the full video.

VIEWING OF SPOOF
This is our first time meeting the clients after we edited the Spoof video. It's out first round of editing thus we need to make some changes that are expected form them. Based on their level of standards and expectations, the comments we garnered are basically minor thus we are happy that we have not much things to amend as we have at least reached their minimum expectations. The comments given are mainly on the funny effects on the Spoof video and we also need to include the main color of CED which is a combination of yellow and white. We are also asked to add a bit of the storyline so that the video will look more interesting.
The clients felt that after the second round of editing, we are able to burn the final Spoof video into DVD and upload to Youtube. We are glad that we do not need to spend more time on Spoof editing as we still have a full video to work on. At least, we are confirmed that Spoof and Teaser are done! In the midst of another round of editing for spoof, we also plan the dates for booking of vista labs so that we are able to edit our full video. David Cheng gave us some feedbacks and some techniques to make our spoof more entertaining.
I guess... The team can have a few days off since we have done most of the work and we've also planned on what we should do next! :)

SECOND ROUND OF FULL VIDEO FILMING
After much discussions, we planned to have a re-shoot on this day based on Glenn's schedule. Mandy Tan and Li jun decided to meet 10AM in the morning while Geraldine Goh and Sharon Ho are in class.
We re-shoot most of the scenes as we felt that all the previous scenes are not satisfactory. We borrowed most of the equipments but we removed tascam because there isn't enough manpower. We added in a few more close up scenes as compared to the previous one because the team felt that most of the shots are wide shot/ mid shot. Compared to the first round of filming, we managed to re-shoot most of the scenes successfully and we did not meet into any obstacles. The main problem we faced are: Not enough manpower and we need more time to carry and pack the equipments as compared to the first time.
We tried to re-shoot all the scenes by 5PM as we need to return all the equipments by them. Aftermath, we meet up with the rest of the other two team mates and discussed about the chosen scenes and to decide if we need to have another re-shoot. Glenn is very co-operative as to we need more close up scenes. He also views some of the films and actually said that it was okay so we proceeded.

SPOOF VIDEO SHOOT AND SYMPOSIUM VIDEO
From the date of 15 June till date, we still have some elements that we have to amend.
Things that are to change:
1230 - 1400PM. But due to some situations we have, for example, the staffs had to go for meetings and teachings, so we will have to shorten the filming period to about 1.5 hours. Due to the time constraint, the team need to be more co-operative on what to do and we have to supervise the staffs that day so that there will be not many NGs to be taken.
Things that are to change:
- RP logo. (New RP logo are made and thus we have to incorporate the new logo into our Symposium teaser.)
- To include a credits page at the end of the video.
Besides the amendments of the teaser, we also have to do a recee location for the spoof video. It'll be done on the 1st July. We'll be doing a recee location at CED department office and the area near the lift in the morning at 830AM. We'll then proceed with the dance training with the staffs from CED department. 900 - 1030AM
The dance steps are lead by two of our members who have a bit of experience on dance. Thus, they are the ones who taught the dance steps to the staffs and the other two members were in charge of audio and observing how the staffs dance and if there steps were correctly done.
Based on what they have learnt, we have decided to put the actual filming on the 8th July.

FIRST ROUND OF FULL VIDEO FILMING
Problems that were faced by the team. The equipments are too heavy for four girls to carry it around. Hence we decided to start off with the furthest venue then move our way in to the nearest venue. However, we faced difficulties when setting up the equipments as the boom mic is not working - speaker doesn't have sound. The audio man finds it hard for recognize Glenn's voice and the surrounding. Thus, we spend an extra time to fix the problem but we still managed to overcome it.
Another problem was the weather. It's very humid and we also need to adjust Glenn's position as the shadow is too harsh on Glenn. We tried a few times on where we should place Glenn to cast a more satisfying shadow behind him. The team felt sorry for Glenn as he's wearing a suit.
We tried to follow the production schedule but ended up, we still change the venue sequence due to weather and human traffic, If there's a heavy human traffic, we cannot proceed on with our production as we felt that might interfere with the shots that we are taking. Glenn made a few changes to the script but thankfully, it's all minor changes. We thanked Glenn for making time for us but we stills acted quite some time as we all have to film some NGs. As Geraldine and Sharon are having lessons after 12PM, they can only helped till noon. We end the whole filming at about 430PM and we meet Geraldine and Sharon at about 530PM.
Overal,, the filming experience is not bad as we used some of the equipments that we hardly used. We views the videos from laptop once we gathered together. From there, we pick up a few of the best shots and decided to re-shoot one of these days.

POST-PRODUCTION
The two above photos that are attached to this entry are the production schedule we are planning to carry out on the 17th and 18th June. Basically, we seeked permissions from Help-Estate and Help-Library to carry out the filming at certain locations for example:
- Level 1, Library, around the round tables.
- E3 Entrance into the library towards the reel room.
- Inside TRCC theatre
- Reflection pond
- Lawn
- E3 Walkway
Below is the initial script that we are going to use for our production:
The script was done by the team : Foursome. It was then proceeded to allow both our advisor: David Cheng and the clients: Kuah Leng Li to look through the scripts, proposed location and the suggested visuals. From there, they started to input some of their suggestions and amend the script.
Awaiting for the day of full video filming FIRST ROUND on the 17th June!
SPOOF VIDEO ACTUAL FILMING
Yes, it's the day when the team have to prepare in the early morning for the equipments that are needed and went on to the office. 900 - 1030AM. We have to placed our equipments based on the planning that we had earlier on. 1st July.
Thus, we now had a rough idea in mind of the different filming techniques we have to incorporate and the different spots that we can placed our camcorder and the tripod. Firstly, we took 2 camcorder and attached it to the tripod stand then we shorten the height and placed in ontop of the staffs' cabinets. We wanted different views of the shots therefore, we placed one of it at the back of the office and the other one and the front but facing more to the side which are able to capture their facial expressions when they are dancing.
Things were funny as some of them are still not very familiar with the steps but, we are glad that we did not take too much time on the NGs. After giving guidance to the team, the staffs managed to take cue and know when to start and stop.
After the indoor shot, we moved on to the outdoor shot. The area where it's just near the lifts. We asked them to stand in 4 lines and DANCE! The two cameraman, Geraldine and Li Jun captured their NGs and also some nice shots which we felt we are able to make it into a nice spoof. The outdoor scene were almost the same as the indoor scene, just that we wanted to make the whole video to look as if the staffs danced from their office to the lifts; like a transitions that are going on.
After which, we went back to the office to shoot the scene where the staffs will sit in 2 rows, facing each other. They will then do some hands actions, and at the same time, they will have to listen to the cue of the team and stand up one by one. Followed by a shout of "CED" and Jump!
I suppose both the team and the staffs did enjoyed for the whole process. It was a great experience for all of us as we have no idea that we could come up with such a plan for the staffs. It was indeed a learning experience, allowing us to learn how to give instructions and to decide what do we have to do for the next step.
Is this called PBL in RP? Haha! Self-exploring and self-learning.
